Pheasant Ridge has 12 pegs set in a large circle laid out on a wooded hillside.  The birds are hand-launched from the center of the circle.  The pegs, or shooting locations, are in trees or brush, so no one can see the birds being released--they appear by surprise.  As the angles and speeds also vary, the shooting can be challenging.  At the gamekeepers horn, the Guns move to their next assigned peg.  By the end, each Gun has shot from each peg to assure everyone more or less the same opportunities.
